Oberhaching/Munich, 12 March, 2014
At the sixth „Energy Harvesting & Storage Europe“, 1-2 April 2014, in Berlin, EnOcean will present the latest developments in the field of its energy harvesting wireless technology. One main focus will be the role of self-powered sensors in the Internet of Things.
In a few years time, billions of devices, sensors in particular, will communicate with each other and the Internet. They build the foundation for an Internet of Things (IoT). In this context, major questions are: How will these devices be powered? How will they communicate? The answer to both is: by energy harvesting wireless technology; as the deep connectivity in an IoT cannot be realized using batteries or cables.
On Tuesday, April 1st, at 11:45 am, visitors of Energy Harvesting & Storage Europe can learn more about “Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Nodes Enabling an Internet of Things“. In his presentation, Frank Schmidt, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of EnOcean, will show the versatile opportunities of energy harvesting wireless solutions for the IoT. Here, new fields of application for the self-powered radio include structural health monitoring, sensors for an optimized nutrition of plants as well as intelligent parking space monitoring.
Energy Harvesting & Storage Europe is the annual key industry event of analyst firm IDTechEx in Europe. The meeting provides insight into energy harvesting technologies, case studies and markets, ranging from consumer electronics and sensors all the way to vehicles, building and industrial automation. Visitors can catch up on the latest technical trends and several application fields at the exhibition area or in presentations. Interested people can register for the event at www.idtechex.com/energy-harvesting-europe.
EnOcean is the pioneer of energy harvesting and sensor-to-cloud solutions for sustainable Internet of Things (IoT) applications. For more than 20 years, EnOcean has been producing maintenance-free wireless switches and sensors, which gain their energy from the surroundings – from movement, light, or temperature changes. The combination of miniaturized energy converters, ultra-low power electronics, robust radio technology, and open multi-protocol connectivity solutions based on open standards (EnOcean, Zigbee, Bluetooth®, BACnet, Modbus, LON, and IAP) forms the foundation for smart buildings, services, and production processes in the IoT. The sustainable EnOcean solutions are used in building automation, smart homes, LED lighting control, and industrial applications to optimize the CO2-footprint of buildings. EnOcean is a strong partner for more than 500 leading product manufacturers and has completed more than a million buildings worldwide.
