This recognition by DLC is further confirmation of the cutting edge, highly efficient capabilities of self-powered wireless Easyfit controls.
Salt Lake City, UT – November 1, 2017
Self-powered, wireless Easyfit LED controls from EnOcean, world leader in energy harvesting wireless technology, are now included in the DLC Qualified Product List (QPL). EnOcean customers across the US are now free to pursue new and retrofit projects that may qualify for higher utility rebates with a QPL solution, all without adding batteries to their wireless installations. EnOcean offers a comprehensive wireless LED controls portfolio for intelligent commercial lighting control, enabling maintenance-free, ready-to-use LED lighting applications based on energy harvesting technology. Self-powered sensors and switches, combined with LED fixture controllers and a commissioning tool, permit easy configuration, intelligent local control, and optional seamless integration into building automation systems. Wireless without batteries is allowing facilities to minimize or eliminate the potential maintenance costs associated with monitoring and replacing batteries over the life of the product. This has become an important component for long-life LED installations as bulb replacement programs are phased out of budgets.
Products and systems for LED lighting control, which have earned the DLC-qualification, ensure a high level of energy efficiency and meet the energy efficiency or quality standards set forth by DLC. In order to be listed on the DLC-QPL, these products and systems must pass specific requirements regarding the quality, performance, and efficiency. Therefore, the DLC Qualification helps to direct users and installers towards the systems that will be the kindest to the environment, while also reducing energy costs and maintenance effort.
“LEDs represent a significant advancement in lighting, and are ideally complemented by controls to leverage further energy savings, enable personal control, and meet regulatory requirements,” explains Andreas Schneider, CEO of EnOcean. “Wireless controls coupled with LEDs allow them to flexibly connect local and network controls to an LED system with significantly reduced installation time and costs. We are proud that our Easyfit LED controls are now qualified as DLC networked lighting control system, enabling building professionals to unlock the full potential of LEDs with simple, easy to install, maintenance-free solutions.”
The DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) is a non-profit organization, promoting high-quality, energy-efficient lighting products in the commercial lighting sector. Through partnerships with utilities, energy efficiency programs and the lighting industry, the DLC establishes product quality specifications, facilitates thought leadership, and provides information, education, tools and technical expertise. The DLC helps utilities create better energy efficiency programs by identifying and verifying the highest-performing products and systems.
EnOcean wireless technology is optimized for ultra-low power communication, allowing for the self-powered, sensors and switches. EnOcean’s Easyfit LED controls portfolio is based on the EnOcean wireless standard (902 MHz frequency for USA and Canada), which delivers maximum point to point communication distances within buildings. These wireless control solutions can be easily added to existing buildings during an upgrade to LED lighting and enable sophisticated lighting control including daylight harvesting and task tuning.
The complete LED control portfolio consists of LEDRU and LEDDU Fixture/Zone Controllers, self-powered wireless light switches, occupancy and light level sensors as well as the Navigan™ remote commissioning software. These solutions enable simple configuration, intelligent local control, and seamless integration with building automation systems using the EnOcean wireless standard. Controls and Lighting manufacturers can also create EnOcean-enabled products by using the extensive line of Dolphin by EnOcean RF modules and EnOcean enabled LED drivers.
These wireless and self-powered solutions help to make LED lighting solutions more energy-efficient and lower in cost therefore enabling lighting installers a fast and flexible installation.
The Easyfit product line is supported by Navigan™ Software. Via this commissioning interface, settings such as top trim thresholds, dimming levels, ramp speeds, task tuning, timers or Title 24-compliant parameters can be changed wirelessly. Employing a Windows-based laptop equipped with the remote commissioning tool, an installer can locate wireless devices throughout the facility, logically connect the controller to switches and sensors, and configure settings in the controller over the air – completely without physical access to the controllers, saving time and costs.
More information on Navigan™ can be found at www.navigan.com. Installers can find tutorial videos showing the tool’s functionalities at www.navigan.com/support.
EnOcean is the pioneer of energy harvesting and sensor-to-cloud solutions for sustainable Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
