Oberhaching/London – November 7, 2019
At LuxLive (November 13-14, 2019, London, UK), visitors can learn how lighting can be connected to wireless control, data generation and the Internet of Things. At booth J0, EnOcean, world leader in energy harvesting wireless technology, will display self-powered switches and sensors for maintenance-free lighting control and IoT solutions. These flexible sensory organs provide the data needed for wireless lighting networks evolving as an IoT data backbone. The maintenance-free sensor solutions presented at the show are available for several international wireless standards such as EnOcean, Bluetooth® and Zigbee.
Wireless lighting networks serve as the IoT network backbone transporting data from a variety of sensors to make buildings more energy-efficient and comfortable. Additionally, this data lays the foundation for optimized space utilisation enabling flexible and agile working environments. Such agile buildings solutions require highly flexible architectures enabling different usage scenarios and easy reconfiguration.
For this, EnOcean’s energy harvesting technology is the ideal fit. It enables self-powered wireless sensors, which gain all energy needed for their operation from the surrounding environment. The most obvious example is the battery-free wireless switch that generates its energy from the kinetic movement of being pressed. Other sources used for self-powered sensors are light (indoor and outdoor) or temperature differences to detect occupancy, light intensity, temperature, humidity, access or even acceleration, for instance.
At LuxLive, EnOcean will demonstrate self-powered solutions for a variety of different ultra-low power wireless protocols such as Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee PRO Green Power and EnOcean sub 1 GHz radio (ISO/IEC 14543-3-10):
Maintenance-free wireless sensor solutions based on the EnOcean wireless standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3-1X) are perfectly suited for controlling LED lighting solutions, such as LED lighting controls, solar-powered presence and light sensors, kinetically operated light switches, and commissioning. EnOcean will also be presenting self-powered wireless switches and sensors for Bluetooth® lighting control systems in 2.4 GHz. The Easyfit Bluetooth® switches and motion detector offer a complete maintenance-free control solution for Bluetooth® lighting systems. The devices have a Near Field Communication (NFC) interface to be easily integrated and commissioned for lighting control systems via an NFC reader or an NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet. EnOcean is closely working together with leading manufacturers of lighting applications, developing self-powered lighting solutions for Zigbee systems on the 2.4 GHz band. The solutions include the Philips Hue Tap as well as the smart switches of Signify’s Friends of Hue partners. More information at: https://www.enocean.com/en/products/self-powered-sensors/
EnOcean is the pioneer of energy harvesting and sensor-to-cloud solutions for sustainable Internet of Things (IoT) applications. For more than 20 years, EnOcean has been producing maintenance-free wireless switches and sensors, which gain their energy from the surroundings – from movement, light, or temperature changes. The combination of miniaturized energy converters, ultra-low power electronics, robust radio technology, and open multi-protocol connectivity solutions based on open standards (EnOcean, Zigbee, Bluetooth®, BACnet, Modbus, LON, and IAP) forms the foundation for smart buildings, services, and production processes in the IoT. The sustainable EnOcean solutions are used in building automation, smart homes, LED lighting control, and industrial applications to optimize the CO2-footprint of buildings. EnOcean is a strong partner for more than 500 leading product manufacturers and has completed more than a million buildings worldwide.
