EnOcean at the virtual Wireless Congress 2020 – energy harvesting wireless sensors for the Internet of Things (IoT)

Oberhaching, November 2, 2020

EnOcean is part of this year’s virtual Wireless Congress: Systems and Applications (10-12 November) and together with HY-LINE, specialist for radio components, systems and complete solutions in the field of IoT, will be promoting self-powered sensor solutions with Near Field Communication (NFC) for the IoT based on the patented energy harvesting technology.

This year, the Wireless Congress will not only focus on the introduction of 5G and campus networks, but also on novel wireless technologies such as WiFi6, TSN for wireless and information-centric networks, software defined networking (SDN), next generation LPWAN and much more. The use of AI in communication networks and the practical application of advanced wireless systems in industry will also be covered.

Wireless with energy harvesting

EnOcean’s battery-free devices facilitate highly flexible, maintenance-free applications for global use in building automation, smart homes, LED lighting control and industrial applications. Together with EnOcean Alliance members and leading industry partners, EnOcean is working on developing innovative building solutions for the Internet of Things based on the EnOcean wireless standard (ISO/ IEC 14543-3-1X). In combination with intelligent IoT systems, self-powered sensor solutions help optimize the utilization of buildings, create new service models and make buildings more flexible, more energy-efficient and altogether more cost-effective. With the introduction of NFC into the wireless EnOcean devices commissioning and programming of these sensors is made even easier and faster, allowing for a more efficient installation scenario.

You can get more information on EnOcean’s energy harvesting wireless technology by joining the following presentations on Tuesday, November 10, 2020:

  • 11:40 am – 12:05 pm: Comparison of Radio-Based Transmission Protocols in Smart Buildings by Prof. Michael Kroedel, IGT – Institut für Gebäudetechnologie GmbH (Session 2 – Technology I)

About EnOcean

EnOcean GmbH is the pioneer of energy harvesting. Headquartered in Oberhaching, near Munich, the company delivers valuable data for the Internet of Things (IoT) with its resource-saving technology. For 20 years, EnOcean produces maintenance-free wireless switches and sensors, which gain their energy from the surrounding – from movement, light or temperature. The combination of miniaturized energy converters, ultra-low power electronics and robust radio technology based on open standards (EnOcean, Zigbee and Bluetooth®) forms the foundation for digitized buildings, services and production processes in the IoT. The self-powered solutions are used in building automation, smart homes, LED lighting control and industrial applications and thus help to optimize the CO2-footprint of buildings. As an innovation driver, EnOcean is a strong partner for more than 350 leading product manufacturers and has already succeeded more than a million buildings worldwide with energy harvesting solutions.
